We have comprehensive private on-site
pathology and radiology services, including CT scanners and MRI, Preventative Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre.
Pre-Admission Clinic
The Pre-Admission Clinic helps ensure that you are fit for surgery,
while providing you with information as to what you can expect before
and after surgery.
Maternity Centre
Our large, spacious and busy Maternity Centre delivers over eleven
hundred babies per year, and offers a full range of midwifery services
including a Level 2 special care nursery.
Calvary John James is the preferred hospital of choice for private
maternity services in the Australian Capital Territory.
Our Maternity Centre also offers -
- a choice of shared or single accommodation, all with en-suites.
A television, radio and telephone is provided in each room, with
complimentary local calls.
- a small laundry area for use by patients
- a first stage lounge, three delivery suites, and a spa bath
for labouring patients
- free parent education classes conducted by midwives and physiotherapists.
These classes include early pregnancy, refresher classes, mothercraft
education talks, anaesthetic information, and educational support
for parents with special needs.
- ante-natal and post-natal exercise classes through one of the
hospital’s physiotherapists
- baby photos - we have an agreement with PAJ Photographers
to provide patients in our Maternity Centre with the opportunity
to have photographs taken of their baby.
The costs for these photographs will be billed directly by PAJ Photographers.
- a Calvary John James teddy bear
- a 24-hour hotline (6281 8730) for breastfeeding and general
advice up to one week after discharge.
Maternity Tours occur every Sunday at 3pm. To confirm the
tour is available on the date contact Maternity Ward on 02 6281 8730
two hours prior the start time of the tour.
Visiting Hours
- Partners are welcome to visit at any time, except between 1.00pm
and 3.00pm.
- All other visitors are most welcome during normal visiting
hours, which are:
- 3.00pm to 5.00pm
- 7.00pm to 8.00pm
While prior arrangements may be made to visit at other times, please
respect the privacy of other patients, and rest periods of expecting
or recovering mothers.
Children are welcome to visit but must be under adult supervision
at all times. Like all visitors, they must be quiet and are not
to enter other patients’ rooms.
Canberra Cancer Care
Centre
The Canberra Cancer Care Centre brings
together a range of cancer services including -
- diagnostic imaging
- cancer surgery
- chemotherapy
- counselling and support
- palliative care
Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Our Intensive Care Unit provides 24
hour Intensivist and Resident Medical Officer cover. Highly trained
and skilled clinicians, fully equipped facilities, and the capacity
to nurse ventilated patients, ensure that we provide the most up
to date post-surgical and intensive care.
